Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 7, 2026 · Effective: May 7, 2026

1. Who we are

QuickFix Service Mechanics (“QuickFix, ” “we,” “us”) operates a mobile auto-repair platform serving customers in Detroit, Cincinnati, and surrounding metros. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Contact: support@quickfixservicemechanics.com

2. Scope

This policy applies to every customer interaction with QuickFix, whether through our website, booking funnel, mobile applications, email communications, or SMS notifications.

3. Information we collect

Account information. Name, email address, phone number, home ZIP code, and password (stored as a hash, never in plaintext).

Vehicle information. Make, model, year, VIN, and mileage of vehicles you add to your garage.

Service address information.Street, city, state, ZIP, and optional notes (e.g. “keys in lockbox”) for locations where mechanics perform work.

Booking and payment information. Service selections, scheduled times, line items, totals, payment method tokens (we never store full card numbers — those live with our payment processor Stripe), refund history.

SMS opt-in data. If you affirmatively check the SMS notifications box at signup, in the booking funnel, or in your account settings, we record the timestamp of your consent and the source (signup_form, booking_funnel, account_settings) for regulatory compliance under the TCPA and carrier (CTIA) rules.

Inspection data. Photos, voice notes, and condition assessments captured by mechanics during your service appointments.

Technical information. IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps — collected automatically via standard server logs and cookies.

4. How we use your information

To provide the service. Match you with a nearby shop, dispatch a mechanic, route them to your address, capture payment, deliver inspection reports, and process refunds.

To communicate with you. Send booking confirmations, mechanic ETAs, service-completion receipts, payment confirmations, and refund updates via email and (if you opted in) SMS.

For account security. Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and account abuse.

For legal compliance. Maintain audit logs of privileged actions, retain records for the periods required by tax and consumer-protection laws.

For internal analytics.Understand booking patterns, service-area demand, and platform performance — always using aggregated or de-identified data where individual identity isn't required.

5. SMS notifications — explicit non-sharing

Phone numbers and SMS opt-in data are never shared with third parties or used for marketing purposes outside of QuickFix. Specifically:

  • We do not sell or rent SMS subscriber phone numbers.
  • We do not share SMS opt-in lists with affiliates, advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
  • Phone numbers used for SMS notifications are used solely for the transactional and service-related notifications described in our Terms of Service (booking confirmations, mechanic ETAs, service receipts, inspection reports, payment confirmations, refund/dispute updates, and optional service-area expansion announcements you specifically opted in for).
  • We do not use SMS phone numbers for promotional offers, marketing campaigns, or third-party advertising.

Message frequency. SMS message frequency varies and depends on your booking activity. Customers receive up to 5 messages per booking (booking confirmation, mechanic assignment, mechanic en-route, mechanic arrived, service completed), plus optional service-reminder messages if you opted in for those. Outside of an active booking, you should not expect to receive any SMS messages from us.

Message and data rates may apply.SMS messages from QuickFix Service Mechanics are billed at your wireless carrier's standard message and data rates. QuickFix does not charge a separate fee for SMS, but your carrier may. Check your wireless plan if you're unsure of your carrier's rates.

Consent is not a condition of purchase. Booking a service with QuickFix Service Mechanics does not require you to opt in to SMS notifications. You can book and pay for services without ever subscribing to text messages. SMS opt-in is entirely optional and can be revoked at any time.

Opt-out and help. If you reply STOP to any SMS, your number is immediately marked opted-out in our database and no further messages are sent. Reply HELP to any SMS to receive support contact information. You can also toggle SMS notifications off at any time from your account preferences.

6. Service providers

We use a small number of vendors to run the platform. These providers act on our instructions and are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose:

  • Stripe — payment processing (handles card data on our behalf; we never see full card numbers)
  • Twilio — SMS delivery (only the phone numbers of users who explicitly opted in)
  • SendGrid — transactional email delivery
  • Cloudflare R2 — secure storage for inspection photos and documents
  • Neon (Postgres) — primary database
  • Vercel — web hosting
  • Google Maps Platform — address autocomplete and map rendering

7. Your choices

Update your data. Edit your name, email, phone, and addresses at any time at /me/account.

SMS opt-out. Reply STOP to any SMS, OR toggle the SMS notifications switch off in your account settings. Both have identical effect — we honor opt-out within seconds.

Email opt-out. Click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Transactional emails (booking confirmations, receipts) are sent regardless because they relate directly to a service you booked.

Account deletion. Email support@quickfixservicemechanics.com to request account deletion. We retain certain records (transaction history, audit logs) as required by tax and consumer-protection law even after account deletion.

8. Data retention

Active customer data: retained while your account is active.

Booking + transaction records: 7 years (tax law).

Audit logs: 1 year hot storage, then archived for a further 6 years before purge.

SMS opt-in records: retained for the life of the subscription plus 4 years after opt-out (TCPA defense).

9. Security

We use industry-standard practices including TLS encryption in transit, password hashing with Argon2id, time-limited session tokens, audit logs of every privileged action, and least-privilege access controls for our team. Cardholder data is handled by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1) — we never store card numbers.

10. Children's privacy

QuickFix is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and, where applicable, an in-product notice. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
